merry thanksgiving

ahhh, no school. it is sa-weet! today i got to see all my cousins from out of town. we even had a 10-year anniversary of our Thanksgiving Toga Race. i'm going to post a picture when i find a scanner.

tuesday night after basketball practice (why haven't you been to my games??) allison, jonathan and i went to dinner at rocky's. which, interestingly enough, now has a gaming center. see allison's blog for visual documentation of this interesting sight. then we went to go see bridget jone's 2, which was slightly disappointing.

oh, and last night i dreamed that meghan, melissa, my mom and my aunt were sitting at the foot of my bed and their heads all kept switching. first my mom and melissa's head switched. then my mom (now melissa's) and meghan's... v. strange indeed.

i have also decided that jonathan gets props for telling a good story last night about his sister breaking a manequin and his mom beating his sister with the broken leg. keep up the good work!

beginning of my christmas list:

- ipod

where has all my time gone?

gone are the assignment pad decorating and the colorful notes days. now, i am lucky if i get to eat lunch sitting down with my friends. basketball, student council and cd yearbook are taking over my life. however, due to massive basketball rejuvination this year, we won our first game, which was against McGehee. 35-33! who scored 17 of those points?? right here. have no fear, you can see our game against Ecole tomorrow at 5 at Ecole. and if you can't make that game, do not fret. we are playing in a tournament called Battle on the Bayou starting on sunday starting at 7 at the Alario Center. i will post the full game schedule soon so you can plan accordingly...

school of rock?

well, life has been busy lately. however, mostly good. i have had enough time for usually about 5 hours of sleep. and i have not failed out of school. yet.

i've been people-watching a lot lately. whether it be while running down St. Charles, at school, at life teen, or out-and-about the social scenes of New Orleans. i have come to a conclusion. i could be pretty cool if i put my mind to it. i mean, what's stopping me? no one. nothing. my whole outlook on life is now pushing towards: "i'm cool. who are you?" i like it.

i've also been rocking my ceramics class. at first my products were looking dismal. i made some pinch pots that were abysmal. i also made a coil pot that turned out....okay. my box exploded. my relief ESPLODED big time. however, after a rough start, i've got it all figured out. my series- rockin'. last class i finished this house thing that is the most wonderful thing that was ever imagined. after it is all done i think i will post pictures.

this weekend i watched "School of Rock" with allison and monica. some might ask, "how is it that you can watch that movie time and time again and not get bored?" i would reply: "how is it that you can stand to not rock?!?!?" if you have not watched this definitive movie on rocking, it's time. i have it until sunday before noon. do yourself a favor and borrow it.

lastly, what are we doing for halloween?!?!?!?!?! it is this sunday! ahhhhhh...

run for basketball or die trying

in previous years, that is, all the years of my life, i have played basketball. in the beginning, i played for various teams at Johnny Bright Playground. However, every year i mangaged to miss a majority of our games, because, since i was the tall girl (nicknamed "tally") the pressure was on me to score. in 6th grade i started playing basketball at Sacred Heart. in my first season i sucked. and our team did too. However, we did win 2 games. in my second year, our team was not so good. we won 1 game i think. in my 8th grade year, however, by some stroke of luck we had a star player- jade. jade was our team. our plays consisted of: "give the ball to jade so that she can score." sadly, my freshman year, the basketball team was again horrid. no jade = no winning games. sophomore year- bad bad bad. we won 1 game but since it was in a tournament that does not count.
every year i sign up for basketball. who knows why? i groan and gripe about practices and always wish i had more time for homework. i'm always sleep-deprived and pushed to the limit. however, i heart basketball. i hardly ever get a chance to just play in my free time, but when i do i really like it. so, this year mr. parten has cracked down on the team. we are currently conditionning with the cross country team, which means that we are RUNNING an average of 2 miles a day. the team is small, and many practices are missed by all. but this year, my friends, the basketball team will triumph and prove all those skeptics wrong!!! i'm pumped.

WHO RAH?? DA RAH!!!

exchange 2005?

future conversation when i'm rich and famous:
interviewer for chic mag: "Sarah, when was it that you truly discovered how cool and funny you were/are?"
$arah (a.k.a. Sarah): "well, it all started when i had my exchange student jane open my eyes in my sophomore year of high school..."

i've been contemplating a few things lately, and i've come to the conclusion that exchange is a the answer to my prayers. i'm thinking i could get away for a few weeks in early january/february. i'm still working on finalizing this plan with ma mere, but so far it's lookin' gooood.

in other news, i've been looking ahead to halloween. i'm thinking that all our friends should have a MASSIVE party and be cool and awesome. i'm thinking we should make it like a "costume ball." and have masks and hardcore costumes. we can even bob for apples!!! my point is that halloween should rock.

p.s. school sucks. and why am i such a lazy bum when it comes to school work this year? i must investigate.

countdown to major candy vegging night (commonly called halloween): 35 days

NEXT WEEKEND IS MY GARAGE SALE TO FUND MY FUTURE DRUMSET!!!! if you would like to give me anything to sell (and have me keep the money) or sign up for a small shift of helpign with preparation or day-of sales, hurry up!!!

mission: drums

for awhile now i've noticed that my life is not complete. at first i didn't know what could fill this void, but i've discovered the solution to my problem- playing the drums. ever since my brother decided to randomly buy a used drumset, i've been feeling the need to do something musical. i used to think that i just wanted to do this because i idolize trey and that i was just on some drum kick that i'd soon get out of. however, i've been looking into drumming for awhile, and i'm thinkin' its time. my mission- buy a drumset. problem- i have no money. that is why i've hatched the most wonderful plan ever. my plan is to have a massive garage sale and use the profits to fund my new obsession that is drums. anyone interested in helping me is welcome to donate anything, volunteer their time, or give me money.

the book of short stories that i'm reading right now called the "hotel eden" is very....different. the first story i read was about how this meteorologist and his long-time girlfriend moved to england, met this guy who took them to this bar and told them stories, then the guy takes the meteorologist to scotland, leaves him on the train and runs away with the meteorologists' wife. then the meteorologist meets them at the bar that night. the second story is about this popular girl and her dorky lab partner who go to thrift stores, buy bowling balls, place them at their friends' doors, go to a hospital and pretend to be sick then run out screaming and laughing, then have sex in his truck. then at the end of the year they say goodbye to each other by meeting at the airport and making out even though they're not getting on the planes. i still have to read one about a girl's "sexual awakening." should i be nervous?

stay in school. if you're suicidal, that is.

okay, first day of school- i had not finished summer reading, had ALREADY gone to bed late and had not finished preparing/decorating all of my binders

by the second week, it was a little better. i somewhat finished my summer reading and was on a pretty good schedule where i would do all my homework.

this week- everything goes to hell. i am already going to bed past midnight, waking up at 5 AND not even finishing all my homework. for instance, last night i had to finish reading the 2 chapters for history that i was being tested on, finish reading Beowulf, do precalculus homework, and browse websites and read articles for religion. needless to say, i didn't get it all done even though i stayed up until 1, woke up at 5:30 and got to school at 7:15 and did more work. it's a little crazy.

in other news, jonathan and i have been going out for 8 months. cody and elizabeth are going to ring dance together. i'm going on retreat. mr. brandao and i have the same car; date pending for our race.

this year, unlike other years, i am not in the least looking forward to the upcoming school year. my decorated binders don't give me the same thrill; i countdown the minutes until lunch and the end of the day. and i live for the weekends. i think that as a country we should revert to farming communities, because they didn't have to go to school. OR, we could convert to a system of teaching/testing where there were no formal tests and grades. i would like that.

i am also seriously considering dropping out of school to race volvos professionally. i've also got a lot of connections in the supermarket business... stephen, cody, colin, caroline.... i figure i could carve a nice salary out of those two businesses.
